One of the primary goals of pellet development is to create designs that minimize drag and maintain stable flight over various distances. Engineers and designers focus on shapes that are aerodynamically efficient, enabling pellets to resist environmental factors like wind and air resistance. Research into alternative materials has expanded pellet performance capabilities. Traditional lead pellets remain the standard, but non-lead alternatives, including alloys and polymers, are being explored to reduce environmental impact and improve velocity and penetration. The needs of target shooters differ from those of hunters, and the development of pellets reflects this.
